Quantitative Biology Leiden

qBio Leiden brings together researchers dispersed across Leiden University, LUMC and industrial partners who use quantitative approaches to understand living systems. By combining biology with mathematics, physics, computer science, artificial intelligence and advanced imaging technologies, we aim to advance a predictive and mechanistic understanding of life across scales, from molecules and cells to tissues and organisms.

What are our aims?

  • Bring together a community in Leiden for a quantitative and mechanistic approach to the life sciences using a combination of mathematical modeling, dynamic data acquisition and AI-based approaches.
  • Establish opportunities for collaboration for PIs, postdocs and PhD students
  • Create opportunities for funding as a network
  • Strengthen connections between the Leiden Quantitative Biology community and companies in Leiden and  beyond
  • Develop educational links between existing courses; organise joint PhD-level events and courses

Upcoming events

  • Launch event on August 27, 2026
  • Joint seminar series with internal and external speakers
