Peer Coaching for NEXUS Researchers

Last month new results from research of PhD candidates in the NEXUS1492 were discussed in small groups consisting of students, postdocs and senior investigators. In these coaching meetings, NEXUS team members reviewed and provided feedback on the dissertations of the PhD students.

A Taste of the Multidisciplinary Project

On a very early morning, Pauline Kulstad joined the group through Skype from Santo Domingo to discuss her chapter on spatial patterning at Concepcion de la Vega based on historical, architectural and archaeological sources. On that same day, Eldris Con Aguilar presented her overview of the status of teaching of indigenous history and heritage in educational system of Saint Kitts.

The groups also learned from results of investigation of Csilla Ariese, who explained the perceived value of Kalinago Baran Autê, a community engagement project in Dominica. Jana Pesoutova received a feedback on first selection of results on healing landscape from Dominican Republic and Cuba, regarding its components and significance. “The sessions were inspirational for the whole group and gave a good overview of different facets of the multidisciplinary project”, says PhD-student Jana Pesoutova.

The peer coaching for the NEXU1492 students occurs twice a year throughout the candidates’ PhD programme.
