Kirsten Ziesemer talks at TedxHaarlem!
On the 24th of November 2017 Kirsten Ziesemer gave a talk at TedxHaarlem! The overarching theme of TedxHaarlem was focused on generation mix and what's cooler than going back more than a few generations, all the way to 1492?
Kirsten talked about how researchers are looking for new materials, new methods, and new possibilities to find DNA in the Caribbean (DNA is a lot like ice and is lost 150x faster in warm climates). By studying DNA we want to know more about life in the Caribbean before the arrival of Europeans. Dental calculus provides the answer and truely contains a wealth of information.
