Mid-term Evaluations
In September 2025, Leiden University submitted its self-evaluation for the mid-term review of the Social and Behavioural Sciences Sector Plan. This self-evaluation provides an overview of the progress made within Leiden since the start of the SSH Sector Plans and reflects on how FSW and FGGA contribute to the national priorities.
Self-evaluation
The self-evaluation addresses developments since the baseline assessment, including:
- progress within the four Sector Plan Themes
- collaboration between FSW and FGGA
- support for early-career academics
- organisation, governance, and visibility of SSH activities
The document also outlines how Leiden is preparing for the next phase of the Sector Plan and how both faculties intend to continue this work internally. In the coming period, research and education directors — together with FSW and FGGA leadership — will further define shared priorities and explore how these can be strengthened in the years ahead.

National process
The mid-term evaluation continues into early 2026. All twelve participating universities submitted a concise self-evaluation as input for national discussions with the SSH Sector Plan Committee. Meetings with theme coordinators (January 2026) and faculty deans (February 2026) will collectively assess progress and help shape national priorities for the next phase of the programme.
