Research with animals
Within Leiden University, we sometimes carry out research using laboratory animals. We only do this when there is no alternative and we cannot answer the research question in any other way. We are aware of the fact that we have to be extra meticulous when carrying out animal experiments. One condition of this is transparency, which is guaranteed according to the Transparency Agreement on Animal Experiments.
More information on research involving laboratory animals, and how we assess and account for these experiments, can be found in our dossier Laboratory Animals in Research.
