Toxicology
The Division of Toxicology of the LACDR has three major research areas: safety sciences, cancer drug target discovery and computational biology
Our research in the area of safety sciences aims to increase the mechanistic understanding of cellular toxicity of drugs and, in a broader sense, chemicals. Moreover, we translate basic mechanistic understanding of toxicity into meaningful in vitro predictive models for human chemical safety evaluation.
Our mission in the area of cancer drug target discovery is to unravel mechanisms of cancer drug resistance and metastasis and find new targets for therapy. In computational biology we combine experimental data to make meaningful predictions, for instance with respect to how therapies can be optimized.
