LACDR is awarded funding on big data Science
The awarded funding is used to attract a PhD candidate on computational pharmacometabolomics as part of the Leiden University progamme in big data science.
Leiden University is investing in the university research programme in Data Science, as part of the Faculty of Science initiated Leiden Center of Data Science (LCDS). The aim of this programme is to boost data science research at Leiden University. To accelerate the program, the university provided additional funding for two PhD candidates per faculty.
The LACDR cluster Systems Pharmacology was awarded funding for one PhD candidate to perform research in data science in drug research, with a focus on computational pharmacometabolomics.
In this project, computational data science approaches will be developed to identify new predictors and biomarkers for drug treatment response. We will make use of "big data" as available in the Rotterdam study, a population-based cohort study, metabolomics data, and integrate LACDR expertise in quantitative systems pharmacology with state-of-the-art statistical modeling approaches.
The project will be coordinated by Coen van Hasselt together with Thomas Hankemeier, Cornelia van Duijn (ErasmusMC/LACDR), and Jacqueline Meulman (MI), to provide broad expertise in systems pharmacology, metabolomics, epidemiology and statistics.
