European programmes
Leiden University takes part in several European research and education projects.
Horizon 2020
From 2014-2020 the European Commission will spend 70-80 billion Euros on research projects under the Horizon2020 programme. There are different types of funding instruments such as individual grants (Marie-Curie IF, ERC), and collaborative project grants (Research and Innovation Actions) in Horizon2020.
ERASMUS+
Leiden University has been an active proponent of and participant in te Erasmus programme from its beginnings in 1986. We currently offer a wide range of possibilities for exchanges in Europe to our students and annually host around 500 Erasmus students from elsewhere in Europe.

Erasmus Mundus is a co-operation and mobility programme in the field of higher education that aims to enhance the quality of European higher education and to promote dialogue and understanding between people and cultures through co-operation with Third Countries.

GaragErasmus
GaragErasmus is building the first professional network of the Erasmus Generation. It brings together and empowers over 3 million people of the Erasmus Generation to promote work mobility and the circulation of ideas in Europe. Former Erasmus students are a generation of extraordinary people who have had a life-changing experience and who can play a key role in Europe's future.
