New way of signing in
Leiden University is moving to a more uniform sign-in experience. As a result, the familiar blue ULCN sign-in page will gradually be replaced by the Microsoft sign-in screen, which is already used for many university services. This change means you will need to sign in less often across different systems and services. By using Single Sign-On (SSO), you will typically only need to sign in once, as long as you continue working in the same web browser.

Which username do I use to sign in?
You should use your University Microsoft account. This is your username followed by @vuw.leidenuniv.nl.
Examples:
- s1234567@vuw.leidenuniv.nl
- bakkerabc@vuw.leidenuniv.nl
I use multiple accounts for my work and I am being signed in with the wrong account. How can I fix this?
Go to: https://myaccount.microsoft.com/
Sign in with the account you want to use. If you are automatically signed in with the wrong account (for example, an LUMC account instead of a Leiden University account), click your profile picture or initials in the top-right corner.
A menu will appear. Select Sign in with another account. You will then have the option to sign in with the account you want to use.
After this, you should be signed in with the correct account.
If you need to use both accounts at the same time, we recommend using two different browsers or opening one of the accounts in a private/incognito window.
Do I need to switch accounts to use eduVPN?
Yes, this is possible.

What are the benefits of this new sign-in method?
In addition to reducing the number of times you need to sign in during the workday, this new sign-in method provides a more secure working environment. It also enables the university to use a single, standardized MFA solution across the organization.
