Columbia Summer Program

General information

For over 50 years, students and professionals from all over the world have joined us in the picturesque Dutch cities of Leiden and Amsterdam for the Columbia Summer Program to learn about all aspects of American Law. The classes are taught by distinguished Professors from Columbia University, New York.

In 2022 the Program will be held in Leiden.

Recent students - and students from many years past - have given overwhelmingly enthusiastic evaluations of the Program. Former students - who are now distinguished judges, political leaders, senior attorneys, business executives, and law professors - participate in great numbers in formal Program reunions and in smaller informal reunions in many countries.

Who can apply

Master students in Law and Law graduates, who are professionally active in the practice of law, industry, commerce, government, international organizations or related activities are eligible for admission to the Summer Program. Law students in an advanced phase of their studies (at least 2 full years completed) may also be admitted based on strong motivation and academic record.

All participants are required to be proficient in English. Classes will be conducted in English and participants will be called upon to discuss the materials they have studied in class.
