Psychology (BSc)
Compulsory Matching
Did you apply for the International Bachelor’s programme in Psychology for the upcoming academic year (2018-2019)? Then you will have to complete our Compulsory Matching. If you are thinking of applying for next year (2019-2020); please note that we will be changing the application procedure and become a selective programme. Please check the website every once in a while for new information.
- You will be introduced to the field of Psychology and watch web lectures by our academic staff;
- By studying the set literature and completing assignments you will be able to experience our IBP programme;
- You will also explore future possible study and career opportunities in the field of Psychology.
What will you do during Compulsory Matching?
For us it is very important that students choose the right programme. To make sure all of our prospective students get an opportunity to make a thought-through decision, we designed a compulsory online module, which is called Compulsory Matching (CM). In this module, students can see for themselves if our focus and level of the education fit their interests and capacities.
The module takes approximately 15 hours to complete, you will experience what the IBP programme can offer you. And what does the IBP programme expect from you? You complete assignments, read around 80 pages of literature and watch different parts of web-lectures from first year courses and other video material (in total approximately 90 minutes of video). This way you can get an impression of our programme. Once you have completed the Compulsory Matching it is up to you to decide if you wish to (finalise) continue your application for our IBP programme and start preparing for your studies in Leiden.
Your performance on the assignments does not influence your chances of being admitted to the programme. The assignments are designed to help you choose the right study programme. The Compulsory Matching helps you to find out whether studying Psychology at Leiden University is a good choice for you.
Please note that you may be invited to participate in the Compulsory Matching before a final decision has been made on your admissibility to the programme. As such, it can happen that you have completed the matching, but that you do not meet the entry requirements (diploma at pre-university level and sufficient English language score) for the IBP programme. In that case, you will unfortunately be unable to start the programme.
When can I participate in Compulsory Matching?
After you have applied in Studielink you will receive an email between 20 January and 1 February or between 10 May and 20 May with concrete information on the Compulsory Matching. On the first day of the matching period (9 February or 1 June) you will receive another email with instructions on how to enroll in the online module. The Compulsory Matching must be completed during one of the two periods. The matching periods are:
|
Matching Period |
Application Deadline |
|---|---|
|
1st matching period: 09-18 February 2018 |
15th of January 2018 (recommended) |
|
2nd matching period 01-10 June 2018 |
1st of May 2018 |
How does Compulsory Matching work?
You will receive an email on the first day of the matching period with instructions on how to enroll in the online module. You need to free approximately 15-20 hours for self-study. You decide when and where to complete the Compulsory Matching. You can, for instance, log in for 2 hours every day and study small sections. We strongly advise you to take part in February so that you can confirm your decision to study Psychology in Leiden and you can start making arrangements (like housing and visa) and prepare for your arrival. Only when you have completed all assignments and fully completed the matching module within the period of 10 days, you have met the requirements for ‘Compulsory Matching’ and we can continue your registration for the IBP programme at Leiden University.
What happens after Compulsory Matching?
Within a month after completion of the Compulsory Matchingyou will receive feedback on your assignment and test. Provided you meet the standard entry requirements for the programme, you can finalise your enrolment to the IBP programme at Leiden University.
If you do not participate in the Compulsory Matching, or if you do not complete the Compulsory Matching, you will be unable to start with the IBP programme.
