Liberal Arts and Sciences: Global Challenges (BA/BSc) - Leiden University College
Selection Procedure
As LUC The Hague only has 200 places available for first year students, we select students based on multiple factors in order to assess best fit.
Selection Procedure steps
Stage 1: Admissibility Check
The first stage in the selection process is to determine the admissibility. If you do not meet the minimum diploma requirements, you will be informed. Complete applications that do meet the minimum diploma requirements are evaluated by LUC’s Admissions Committee.
Stage 2: Application Review
The Admissions Committee holistically reviews your application in the second stage to determine whether you are a good fit for LUC The Hague. Your application is evaluated on the following items:
- Academic skills and potential (through transcripts and LUC recommendation form)
- English proficiency including writing skills (through the LUC Motivation form and proof of English proficiency)
- Mathematics proficiency (through transcripts and the LUC Application form)
- Motivation for LUC’s programme (through the LUC Motivation form and LUC Recommendation form)
- Extra-curricular activities and willingness to engage in the community (through the LUC CV form and LUC Motivation form)
A selected number of students will be invited for an admission interview which is the third stage in the selection process. If you are not selected for an interview, you will be informed by the Admissions Office.
Stage 3: Admissions Interview
An admission interview is the third stage of the selection procedure. If you are selected by the Admissions Committee for an admission interview, you will be invited for an online interview through Microsoft Teams. You will be able to select your own interview date and time through an online booking system. Please view this information sheet for more information and check the interview period for each deadline under Application deadlines. In the interview your English listening and speaking skills will be assessed as well.
Stage 4: Final Stage
Based on the evaluation of the Admissions Committee in the second stage (all application documents) and third stage (admission interview) and compared to all other applicants, the Dean of LUC The Hague makes a decision regarding admission to LUC’s programme. You may either be offered a place in the programme, re-considered in the second round of admissions, or receive a rejection.
Please note that it is not possible to defer the start date of your studies if you receive an offer. Should you wish to start the following academic year, you will have to re-apply.
Selection Procedure
All applicants have to go through the LUC selection procedure which can only be entered after submitting a complete application in the application portal before or on the final application deadline. Without going through the LUC selection procedure, you will not be considered for a place in LUC’s programme. Below you will find information regarding the various stages of the selection process.
