Dilemmas of Doing Diversity Conference

Kay Mars (Erasmus University Rotterdam), one of the PhD-researchers in the NWA research project Dilemmas of doing Diversity, invited Jasmijn Rana to join a panel on Diversity Practices in Sport and Recreation at the closing conference of the research project. Together with Jasmin Seijbel and Palesa Mashigo (both from Erasmus University Rotterdam), the panel presented critical feminist/anti-racist/queer/decolonial* approaches in Sports and Sports Policy Research. 

Landscapes of Gentrification

Jasmijn Rana delivered a keynote speech at the workshop Landscapes of Gentrification: Infrastructures, Conflicts and Imaginaries of Urban Nature. The workshop explored and debated the concept of ‘green gentrifications and its various applications in contemporary urban environments’. Rana’s lecture was titled Moving in City Parks and National Parks: Ethnoracial Inequalities in OutdoorRecreation. 

Rana invited speaker for symposium Diversity and Inclusion in Sport

📍Münster, Germany

Jasmijn Rana was a speaker at the yearly conference of the Deutsche Vereinigung für Sportwissenschaft that took place in Münster, Germany. In the invited symposium, titled Diversity and Inclusion in Sport, organized by Karolin Heckemeyer (FNHW, Switzerland), she gave a presentation, titled Self-Organized Groups: Fostering Ethno-Racial and Religious Affinity in Sports. Together with the other speakers, Madeleine Pape (University of Lausanne) and Laurent Paccaud (University of Lausanne), the symposium presented important interventions in the field of sport studies in Europe.
