For students
Desinging Your Life helps students design their life path and face the future with confidence.
At the moment, Leiden University only has a Designing Your Life course on offer for bachelor's students that have joined the Honours College.
Questions Designing Your Life helps with:
- What kind of job can I get with my degree?
- How do I choose between all the things I find interesting?
- How can I overcome indecision, perfectionism, imposter syndrome?
- How can I get in touch with people in my field?
- What concrete steps can I take to craft my future?
How does Designing Your Life work?
In a DYL course, you will use design thinking to define where you are now and where you’d like to go. You’ll brainstorm, envision multiple possible futures for yourself, and learn to build your way forward. You will be part of a small group within your class – guided by a peer mentor – to ensure a safe environment for personal discussions.
On top of that, you'll have network conversations with professionals in your field to envision what your future could look like. Through journaling exercises, you will identify what gives you energy and tackle obstacles such as perfectionism, imposter syndrome, fear of failure and indecision.
In the end, you won’t have the answers to all your questions, but you will have developed the necessary life skills and confidence to keep designing your future throughout your life.
