Application deadline is 4 June 2025. Applicants will be notified about the outcome no later than 10 June 2025.
The School for Digital Deaf Studies 2025 is a hybrid school consisting of one week online and a ten-day in person to be held in Ghana. The school aims to empower Deaf students especially from the Global South, following or having completed a program at a recognised tertiary institution, including sign language linguistics and special education. It responds to the need of digital resources for sign languages and supports academic growth from within Deaf communities. Built on the success of the first African School for Deaf Studies in 2019, it uses sign language as the main medium of instruction and values collaboration across continents. The school is funded by the Leiden University Global Fund.
