OSCL Yearly Report 2025

We are happy to share with you the OSCL Yearly Report 2025! This year’s report is based on data from our member-sign-up form as well as our Master Plan, developed during the OSC-NL Consolidator Course. Together, these sources provide a snapshot of who makes up our community, what our members already know, and what they would like to learn more about.

Most members shared their general information and signed up for the newsletter, and many also indicated how they could contribute to or benefit from Open Science practices. Ysing visuals such as wordcouds, we caught a lively picture of our community’s strengths and learning goals.

Words frequently used to describe what OS topics OSCL members have experience with.

For instance, as you can see in the figure above, members are already familiar with Open Science, open data, and open access. Looking further into what people want to help others with or learn mor about, the picture does change a bit. Check out our full report to see what we found.

Whilst looking at the numbers is intriguing, we recognize that the most valuable part of OSCL cannot easily be captured in numbers: the connections that members make with one another and the collaborations that grow from these encounters. As our Master Plan puts it, the long-term impact of OSCL lies in fostering an open and supportive culture that makes science more credible and transparent.

We invite you to check out the full report to get a deeper sense of who we are as a community, what our members care about, and how we aim to continue growing together.
