Faculty of Medicine of University of Indonesia is Committed to Expand Education and Research Collaboration with Leiden University Medical Center
Fostering the collaborations with world-leading educational and research institutions, including Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC), is one of strategic actions of the Faculty of Medicine of University of Indonesia (FKUI) to improve the quality of education, research, and contribute to the development of science and public health. These were the words of Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs Dr. dr. Pribadi Wiranda Busro during the visit of Prof. Maria Yazdanbakhsh, professor in cellular immunology of parasitic infections and head of the department of Leiden University Center for Infectious Diseases (LUCID) in FKUI on 3 June 2026.
Yazdanbakhsh's visit to UI was in connection with the Visiting Professor Program at UI. This program invites distinguished professors to conduct academic activities such as delivering lectures, seminars, facilitating workshops, and engage in discussions on research collaboration in all UI faculties.
They discussed the opportunities to strengthen collaboration between the Department of Parasitology FKUI and LUMC. In addition, the discussion explored collaborative research opportunities on tropical and infectious diseases, and capacity building programme for young researchers and knowledge exchange.
The development of half minor scheme was also in the agenda. The half-minor program will provide students the chance to expand their academic horizons and strengthen their glocal competencies.
