The Office of Leiden University in Indonesia
The Koninklijk Instituut voor Taal-, Land- en Volkenkunde (or Royal Netherlands Institute of Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies) in Jakarta was established in 1969 and is since 2014 part of Leiden University Libraries (UBL) in co-operation with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). The main activities of KITLV-Jakarta are the acquisition of relevant and scientific materials on the study of Asia and in particular Indonesia in the field of humanities, social sciences, and law; the digitalization of serials and journals; and publishing.
The Office of Leiden University in Indonesia was established in 2015 as addition to the KITLV-Jakarta office. It aims to increase academic collaboration with Indonesian counterparts and functions as a resource centre for information on degree programs offered by Leiden University.
In 2025 the Leiden-Delft-Erasmus (LDE) Universities Centre in Indonesia became part of the Office of Leiden University in Indonesia. The LDE alliance was established in 2012 as a strategic partnership to focus on collaboration in education, research, and knowledge transfer in the Netherlands and internationally. The establishment of the centre reflects the commitment to foster academic and research collaboration between LDE and Indonesian partner institutions.
The office is located in Kuningan, South Jakarta area.
Internship opportunity
The Office of Leiden University in Indonesia is currently looking for an intern interested in learning all aspects of the public and government relations and digital communication in the field of higher education. The student who fills this position should expect to learn the field and will complete this programme, ready to enter public relations digital communication in the field of higher education sector with excellent skills.
Offline attendance at the office is compulsory for this programme. The internship lasts from February until May 2026.
Main Responsibilities:
- Assist with social media, mailings and print production.
- Assist with online outreach and promotion using Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and more.
- Assist in organizing events, such as lectures, seminars, etc.
- Any other relevant responsibilities as assigned from time to time.
Requirements:
- Bachelor students minimum entering 3rd year or 5th semester with a background in Socio-Humanities studies from a reputable university.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as organizational skills.
- Proficient in English and Indonesian.
- Solid understanding of website and social media.
- Knowledge about design elements, such as color and composition.
- Proficient in Microsoft and Google Office applications.
- Energetic, creative, hard-working, and team-oriented.
- Possess proactive personality and critical thinking skills.
- Attention to details.
