My research is focused on the host-pathogen interplay during infection in Mycobacterium avium and comparing with better studied mycobacterial pathogens like M. tuberculosis and M. marinum. My work addresses two crucial processes in mycobacterial pathogenesis: the intracellular trafficking inside macrophages and the induction of macrophage cell death. These processes will be studied in vitro in mouse & human macrophages and in vivo in zebrafish larvae.
