Professional experience

Rita Schulze has a background in environmental science, and has been working in the field of life cycle assessment, both in research and certification. Before joining CML, she was working on the EREAN project (European Rare Earth (Magnet) Recycling Network) which deals with the recycling of rare earth elements from Nd-Fe-B magnet scrap. At CML, she is working on a project which aims to improve the current methods for life cycle impact assessment for raw material extraction / use.

Research topic

As part of the SUPRIM project (SUstainable management of PRIMary raw materials through a better approach in Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment), the current approach to the assessment of primary raw material extractions in life cycle (sustainability) assessment is being evaluated and updated.
