Merel Sprenger is a postdoctoral researcher in the Violence and Violence Prevention research group at the Institute of Security and Global Affairs. In her current project, she links data from the Dutch Femicide Monitor with CBS microdata to gain new insights into the backgrounds of victims and perpetrators of femicide.

Research programme
Merel Sprenger is a postdoctoral researcher in the Violence and Violence Prevention research group at the Institute of Security and Global Affairs. In her current project, she links data from the Dutch Femicide Monitor with CBS microdata to gain new insights into the backgrounds of victims and perpetrators of femicide.
During her PhD research at Leiden University Medical Center and the Health Campus The Hague, she studied pregnancy intention, unintended pregnancy and contraception. She has an interdisciplinary background in the health sciences, with degrees from Leiden University College and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
