In her PhD project, Marjolein focuses on the usage of citizen science for social network analysis. The project is interdisciplinary and is based on both science communication and applied mathematics. The PhD project is in collaboration with the Applied Mathematics department at Eindhoven University of Technology, and receives funding from the NWO gravity (‘zwaartekracht’) program NETWORKS. Supervisors for this PhD project are Ionica Smeets, Anne Land-Zandstra (both Leiden University) and Johan van Leeuwaarden (Eindhoven University of Technology). Marjolein received a MSc in Human Aspects of Information Technology from Tilburg University and a MSc in Computer Science from Utrecht University.
