Jeroen ten Voorde is  Professor of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure at Leiden University. 

Research

Since 2016, he is the coordinator of the research programme Criminal Justice: Legitimacy, Accountability, Effectivity.

In his research, Jeroen ten Voorde focuses on issues of substantive criminal law and philosophy of criminal law. His fields of interest are: sexual offences and property offences in cyberspace, criminalisation (focusing on legal interests (Rechtsguter) and the harm principle), and justifications and excuses. A more recent research topic is the future of the Dutch Penal Code.

He co-supervises various PhD candidates.

Teaching

Jeroen ten Voorde teaches various courses in the bachelor's and master's degree programmes (law, criminal law and criminal procedure). In Groningen he contributes to the seminar 'Boontje komt om zijn loontje'.

Ancillary activities

Jeroen ten Voorde is a member of the editorial board of PROCES. He is an author in various editions of Tekst & Commentaar and of Nederlandse Jurisprudentie. He works in legal practice as a substitute judge at the District Court Noord-Holland and the Court of Appeal in The Hague.
