More information about Esther Ohenewa

Esther Ohenewa is a Fellow of the Coimbra Group – Leiden University, and guest researcher at the Department of Developmental and Educational Psychology, deepening collaborations between Ghana and different European academic networks. She is based as a lecturer at the Behavioural Science Department at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana. She also is a certified Clinical Psychologist and offers clinical services at the Psychiatric Unit at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Ghana.

'My research focuses on psychosocial intervention design, decolonization, and the well-being of young adults, particularly descendants of transatlantic slavery. I’m especially interested in the intersection of positive psychology, identity, and the role of artificial intelligence in culturally grounded mental health solutions. I'm honored to be part of this academic community and look forward to exchanging ideas, building meaningful collaborations, and sharing insights from both my home context and my work here at Leiden in collaboration with the Focus on Emotions research lab, led by prof. Carolien Rieffe.'

Additionally, the recently achieved LDE Global Grant (PI prof. Rieffe), which entails a collaboration between Leiden University-Delft University-Erasmus University and the (Dutch) National Archive (The Hague), further supports her commitment to global, cross-institutional knowledge exchange and inclusive research practices.
