His research uses experimental methods and automated text analysis to study political parties, group identities, political representation, public opinion, and electoral behaviour. Specifically, he focuses on how political parties shape the political field—for instance, by claiming to represent groups, discourses, and issues—and, on the other hand, how voters respond to such claims.
His PhD is supervised by Dr. J.A. Robison, and also Dr. C. M. C. van Vonno, and Dr. T. Louwerse.
