Charlotte Boin
- Name
- C.H. Boin
Charlotte Boin is a PhD candidate in Governance of Crisis at the Institute of Security and Global Affairs. She’s fascinated by the effect crises have on social systems. For her PhD research, she studies how groups adapt to chronic threats when there are no easy or attractive options left on the table. She’s particularly interested in understanding why people choose to make (collective) sacrifices – of land, livelihood or resources – in order to adapt to a chronic threat. She combines her PhD research with her work as a crisis management researcher for the Netherlands Institute for Public Safety (NIPV). Charlotte has a background in sociology, with a sociology research master from Erasmus University Rotterdam.
