Ben van Velthoven (b. 1953) is Associate Professor of Law and Economics at the Department of Economics of the Leiden Law School. He studied econometrics at Tilburg University (1971-1976) and obtained a PhD degree from the University of Amsterdam in 1988. His current research centers on civil dispute resolution, liability issues, and the economics of crime and punishment.
