MSc Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology: Policy-oriented research internship
Wereldkinderen (Children of the World) is a Dutch NGO which mediates with respect to the adoption of children from abroad by families resident in the Netherlands. Their project ‘History and Roots’ seeks to document the social, cultural and political context of adoptions to the Netherlands from Africa, Latin America and Asia from the 1970s until the 1990s. The research internship can explore the experiences and reflection of the various persons who were involved with the adoptions in those days, both on the ‘sending’ and the ‘receiving’ side, including Wereldkinderen itself (as well as perhaps its sister organization Terre des Hommes). The research should ideally be conducted in both the Netherlands as well as a—to be chosen—country from which the adoption has taken place.
