New multi-tenant buildings at Leiden Bio Science Park
Leiden University signed contracts with three parties on 4 June that will make new construction projects possible at the Leiden Bio Science Park. These contracts mainly concern the realisation of new multi-tenant buildings in the park. For instance, BioPartner Center Leiden will build a new laboratory building for start-ups in the Oegstgeest part of the park: BioPartner5.
The University is working together with the municipalities of Leiden and Oegstgeest to transform Leiden Bio Science Park into a campus environment that is not only a place of teaching and research but also a place to live and work. During Provada, the largest real-estate fair in the Netherlands, the University and Kadans signed a contract stating that Kadans will investigate whether it can realise a multi-tenant building with a total floor area of around 15,000 m2. A further agreement has been signed with Dura Vermeer to investigate whether a multi-tenant building with a total floor area of around 9,000 m2can be realised.
Energy-neutral laboratory building for starters
At Provada, Leiden University also signed a leasehold contract with BioPartner Center Leiden stating that after the summer of 2019, BioPartner will lease land from the University to realise a new building: BioPartner5. This will respond to the need for more starters’ facilities in the park. The new building will be in the Oestgeest part of the Bio Science Park, and will be the first energy-neutral laboratory building in the Netherlands. The building will also provide a space for researchers, students and businesses at the park to meet and hold events. This will be in a special winter garden that BioPartner Center Leiden plans to build. This will be a unique meeting place in that park.
