Run with us for Peace!
On Saturday 24 September, the Peace Run will take place in the Hague, part of the Just Peace Festival. You can choose to run either 5 or 10 kilometers on a track around the Peace Palace.
Participation, T-Shirts and Clinics
You can also contribute to the Just Peace Festival, by taking part in the Peace Run! Leiden University has assured free participation for students and employees. Participants will receive a unique Leiden University t-shirt, and to prepare you for the run, you can take part for free in two run clinics. If you sign up before 5 September, you will receive a personalized starting number. After that deadline, you will receive a starting number without a name.
UPDATE | Unfortunately, the sign up is closed!
Run clinics
On Tuesday 6 and Tuesday 13 September, we are organizing two running clinics to support you in your personal training. These clinics are led by our colleague Stefan de Jong (Knowledge broker Luris). Stefan is an experienced runner and a member of The Hague Roadrunners. The clinics are meant for both students and employees, and for beginners as well as advanced runners. They will take place in the Haagse Bos from 17:30 to 18:30, and anyone who wants to join should assemble at Stichthage/The Hague Central Station next to the flower shop at the front of the building. There are no additional costs to participate in these clinics, but you need to register via communicatie@fgga.leidenuniv.nl. Don't wait too long, as only 25 people can take part in the clinic.
Do not forget to bring a bottle of water – especially in warm weather.
Leiden University & Just Peace
The Hague, international city of Peace & Justice, will be host to the Just Peace Festival. With four days full of activities, the city will pay tribute to the UN Day of Peace. Leiden University will contribute to the festivities in several ways. Firstly, our students are encouraged to take part in the UN Conference about peace in the Paard van Troje, which will take place on 21 September. On that same day, Marieke Liem, researcher at Leiden University, will speak at the Hague Talks. On 22 September, Leiden University researchers will take part in a festival that is organized by Hogeschool Inholland. The University is also sponsor of the Peace Run (24 September) this year for the first time.
