On Friday, 17th April 11:00-12:00, there will be a Work in Progress session by Laura Bakola, PhD Candidate at the Institute of Private Law. The session will be part of the Private Law SCP meetings and will be open to anyone interested in digitalisation/e-commerce and/or qualitative research methods.
Laura will present the preliminary findings of her empirical legal research and will share her experience conducting qualitative interviews with prosumer-sellers active on online marketplaces. Her empirical study examines the perceptions of prosumer-sellers regarding power imbalances on online marketplaces and aims to compare these perceptions to the normative reality as expressed in law and in the terms set by the marketplace operator. Her research explores the extent to which the introduction of new market identities—namely platforms and prosumers—and the corresponding shifts in power require a reconstruction of the EU legal framework applicable to sale of goods contracts.
