Anchrit Wille and Mark Bovens recently published a completely revised version of their groundbreaking book Diplomademocratie (Diploma Democracy). In this new book, the authors argue that the Netherlands has developed into a country in which practically trained people and academics live in separate worlds, and people with the highest degrees call the shots. It is a provocative analysis that is worth discussing among public administration and political science experts.
On Monday 23 March, we will be organising this discussion among colleagues at the Institutes of Public Administration and Political Science at Leiden University. There will be a presentation by Anchrit Wille and Mark Bovens, followed by reflections from Sandra Groeneveld and Sarah de Lange, and finally an opportunity for discussion with the audience. Josette Daemen will moderate the meeting. We will end with drinks. Everyone is welcome!
Advance registration is not required. The event will be held in Dutch, but participants are welcome to ask questions in English.
