The Dual PhD Centre facilitates dual PhD research at Leiden University. Its programme enables professionals to devote part of their working time to conducting doctoral research, with a theme grounded in their own professional practice. Throughout the trajectory, candidates receive intensive supervision designed to support them in completing an effective and successful PhD project.
The Dual PhD Centre’s approach is fully customised. Through targeted training, coaching and intervision, we provide optimal guidance tailored to each candidate’s needs. As a result, our dual PhD candidates often complete their doctorates within a similar timeframe as traditional PhD candidates, despite having fewer research days available per week.
Dual PhD trajectories offer significant advantages for candidates, employers and supervisors. For candidates, the programme provides a unique opportunity for advanced professional development and, for many, the chance to realise a long-held ambition.
