Diversity & Inclusion Course
Are you looking for evidence-based approaches to help your organization be more diverse and inclusive? Would you like to have a better conceptual and practical understanding of organizational diversity and inclusion?
Diversity and Inclusion
Research shows that diversity and inclusion (D&I) are vital moral and strategic values that make better functioning organizations.
- Diversity: Both visible and invisible markers of social identity like class, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, and functional limitation intersect to shape an individual’s social position and opportunities;
- Inclusion: Is a state in which diverse people feel a high level of psychological safety because they feel they belong, that their voice is respected and they can be successful.
During this course you will gain insights into the essence and practice of D&I.
Questions we will explore in this course
-
Inclusive organization culture: Why is D&I important to me and my organization? How can I stimulate the development of an inclusive culture? How can I maintain and sustain this?
-
Strategic change management: How can I get my organisation moving in the direction of inclusion? How do I deal with opposition? How can I find opportunities and how to avoid pit falls?
-
Inclusive leadership practices: How can I contribute to an inclusive culture? How can I reflect on my own thoughts, feelings and behaviour in the context of D&I? How can I set a good example?
-
Inclusive communication: How can I communicate in an inclusive way? How can my organization make its internal and external communication more inclusive?

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Could you tell me a bit more about the content of the 4-day course?
This course connects academic research and everyday real-life dilemmas brought to the course by participants and instructors. The course is led by a programme leader with both practical and scientific experience in the field of D&I. She is responsible for providing an overarching structure, ensuring quality, and personal attention to each participant.Scholars and experienced practitioners will be invited to give interactive lectures and workshops related to: change management, inclusive culture, inclusive communication, and inclusive leadership. Together with the programme leader, participants will form a community of learning in which they will bring their own dilemmas and goals.
-
Is there a specific theoretical foundation regarding D&I that will be applied during the course?
D&I will be highlighted from different scientific disciplines: HRM, change management, psychology, anthropology, public administration, sociology and communication. -
Is the aim of the course more geared towards organisational processes or more towards communication?
The emphasis will be on organisational change, communication is an important part of this. -
Will we mainly learn how to use the inclusion scan or will there be other tools too?
The inclusion scan will be one of the tools. It helps us to understand how to promote connection and authenticity. It is a tool that will help you start conversations on inclusion and self-reflection before the course begins. We will also be working with other tools which promote self-reflection/ organizational reflection and inclusive communication such as the Harvard “immunity to change” and case methods.
