Research
Creole languages offer unique insights into several aspects of natural language. For instance, their genesis can tied to a process of feature recombination which underlies L1 acquisition in general. Furthermore, owing to their somewhat wide range of variation, they are prime objects for the study of both variation and microvariation. Additionally, creole languages are often in contact with their lexifiers and can thus inform us about language contact in general. These are some of the aspects of creole languages which my research focuses on.
Grants and awards
2020. Best student poster award. Annual conference of the Canadian Linguistics Association.
2017. Linguistic Institute Fellowship. Linguistic Society of America.
