After gaining a BSc in Neuroscience from King’s College London and an MSc in Medical Statistics from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Lucy worked as a Research Assistant and Fellow, providing statistical advice and analyses to PhD students at the International Centre for Eye Health. Upon emigrating to The Netherlands in 2018, she decided to pursue a PhD in Molecular Epidemiology at the LUMC. During her PhD, Lucy investigated DNA methylation responses to diet and exercise in multiple tissues and their links to adipocytokines, such as IL-6 and adiponectin. Lucy now works as a postdoc at the LACDR as part of the EFSA TXG-MAP project. Supervised by dr. Giulia Callegaro and prof. dr. Bob van de Water, her research will apply WGCNA to novel TempO-Seq data, generated from liver, kidney, lung, and neuronal cells and tissues. She will use this to extend the TXG-MAPr R Shiny application and map the resulting modules to key events from relevant AOPs. In this way, she aims to demonstrate the value of using such bioinformatics tools and pipelines in chemical hazard assessment and regulation development.
