Forough Sajadi is is a guest researcher at the Institute for Area Studies. She is an art historian specialized in Islamic art, and in particular Persian miniatures. She is currently conducting her research titled 'Persian miniatures in Dutch museums, public and private collections'.

Fields of interest

I am an art historian specialized in Islamic art, and in particular Persian miniatures and manuscripts.

Research

Since 2021, I have been conducting research titled “Persian miniatures in Dutch museums and private collections”. Currently I carry out thorough historical research on the “Albert Hotz paintings collections” in the Special Collections of Leiden Libraries.

CV

From March 2023, I work as the Scaliger Fellow at Special Collections in Leiden University Libraries. Before that, I carried out my research as an independent curator, funded by Mondriaan Fund.

I completed my PhD in Art History at the University of Warsaw in 2020. I performed my PhD research as the Andrew W. Mellon Research Fellow in the Rijksmuseum (2018- 2019). At the Rijksmuseum, I was the first non-Western researcher who was awarded a fellowship. Prior to that, I worked as a lecturer of “History of Persian miniature” at the Institute of Art History, University of Warsaw (2015-2016).
