Faiz Rahman is a PhD candidate at Van Vollenhoven Institute (VVI). His PhD research focuses on the issues of public interest in data protection. The research will investigate how the public interest is designed and functions within the Indonesian data protection legal and institutional frameworks. His research is supervised by Prof. Adriaan Bedner and Prof. Simone van der Hof.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws (SH) from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia, and a Master of Laws (LLM) in Media and Technology Law from the University of New South Wales, Australia. His research interests include law and digital society, privacy and data protection, and constitutional law.

Faiz is a lecturer at the Department of Constitutional Law, Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Indonesia. He also works as a researcher in several study centers at the Faculty of Law, such as the Center for Law, Technology, RegTech & LegalTech Studies (CTRL), the Center for Democracy, Constitution, and Human Rights (PANDEKHA), and the Center for Law and Social Justice (LSJ). He is also an adjunct researcher at the Center for Digital Society (CfDS), Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UGM.
