Charlie Clark studied chemistry and biochemistry at the College of William and Mary, obtaining a BSc degree in 2014. He then obtained his PhD in chemistry at the University of Virginia, graduating in 2019 after completing his thesis titled “Microfluidic applications in forensic science.” As an Assistant Professor in the Metabolomics and Analytics Centre, led by Prof. Thomas Hankemeier, Charlie's primary research goal is to create innovative high-throughput analytical workflows, including developing novel sample preparation modules, creative sample handling methods, automated workflows, and more. He is the project leader of the NWO-funded project MOONLIGHT, a consortium with multiple academic and industrial partners. Within MAC, Charlie also co-leads the Single Cell research team, dedicated to unravelling the metabolome of live single cells using high-throughput segmented flow sample handling coupled to mass spectrometry. Charlie is an expert in microfluidics and brings strong collaborations with engineering and automation industrial partners.
