De masteropleiding Cultural Analysis: Literature and Theory van de Universiteit Leiden richt zich op de studie van literatuur vanuit een vergelijkend en theoretisch perspectief, en onderzoekt de literatuur van een breed spectrum van talen en culturen uit de hele wereld.

In onze eenjarige masteropleiding leer je hoe je het dagelijks leven van kwetsbare groepen - zowel in Nederland als wereldwijd - kunt bestuderen, en hoe je ze binnen de complexe processen van sociale en globale ontwikkeling kunt plaatsen.

Op 11 november 2021 verdedigde Evelien Campfens het proefschrift 'Cross-border Claims to Cultural Objects'. Het promotieonderzoek is begeleid door prof.dr. N.J. Schrijver en prof.dr. W.J. Veraart (VU Amsterdam).

Dit tweejarige Advanced MSc IRD-programma biedt je een unieke combinatie van academisch onderwijs in internationale betrekkingen en politieke wetenschappen, met praktisch onderwijs en training in internationale onderhandelingsvaardigheden en diplomatie.

In de bachelorspecialisatie International Relations and Organisations ligt de nadruk op internationale onderwerpen. Het programma is geheel Engelstalig en wordt verzorgd in Den Haag.

Dit project bestudeert sociale afstand - de mate van begrip tussen mensen - in relatie tot het buitenlands beleid van staten. Geeft sociale afstand vorm aan politieke vooroordelen, hulpverhalen en, uiteindelijk, de prioriteiten en beslissingen van het buitenlands beleid van een staat?

De Universiteit Leiden is op 8 november het toneel van de jaarlijkse prijsuitreiking van de World Cultural Council (WCC). We beantwoorden de vijf belangrijkste vragen over deze prestigieuze prijzen.

Met een aantal lezingen van topwetenschappers en een feestelijk uitgedoste Pieterskerk stond de Universiteit Leiden op 7 en 8 november even in het teken van de jaarlijkse prijsuitreiking van de World Cultural Council (WCC).

Aan de hand van een reeks case studies in Irak, Moldavië en Servië gedurende het post-Koude Oorlogstijdperk, onderzoekt dit boek asymmetrische conflicten waarbij de strijdende partijen een grote ongelijkheid in machtsposities vertonen.

Een diversere groep studenten kun je je bijna niet voorstellen. India, Duitsland, Pakistan, Nederland, Israël, Rusland, Italië en Mongolië, allemaal voorbeelden van landen die dit voorjaar vertegenwoordigd zijn in de pilot van het International Leiden Leadership Programme.
