Museums, Collections & Society is een stimuleringsprogramma van de faculteiten geesteswetenschappen en archeologie wat onderzoek met collecties wil bevorderen, onderwijs op dit gebied wil stimuleren en de ethische vragen wil stellen omtrent de herkomst van deze collecties.

Leiden en Den Haag hebben veel musea met grote aantallen bijzondere voorwerpen en archieven. Ook de Universiteit Leiden herbergt bijzondere collecties. Museums, Collections & Society bevordert onderzoek en onderwijs en stelt ethische vragen omtrent de herkomst van deze collecties.

Op 21 november 2018 verdedigde Lieke Kools haar proefschrift 'Essays on wealth, health, and data collection'. Het promotieonderzoek is begeleid door promotoren prof. dr. K.P. Goudswaard en prof. dr. C.L.J. Caminada.
