Assistant Professor Metabolomics (1.0 FTE)
 

Key responsibilities
The Division of Analytical Biosciences at the Leiden Academic Centre for Drug Research (LACDR) has a world-leading reputation in the field of metabolomics, and has a track record in developing novel analytical and microfluidic methods. You will be part of a team of scientists working on a number of exciting metabolomics projects in the area of clinical and drug research, epidemiology and translational medicine. Your task will be leading the study design, data acquisition, data analysis and interpretation of metabolomics data acquired with our state-of-the art infrastructure. You will integrate metabolomics data with other omics and metadata as part of national and international collaborations.  You will study data from clinical and preclinical samples, including innovative patient-derived organ-on-a-chip models and you will become part of novel initiatives being built with several biobanks and medical centres and the pharma industry. You will share your expertise with students through lectures and participation in the LACDR education program. 
The responsibilities of the position include:

  • Leader of Metabolomics projects;
  • Biological interpretation of metabolomics results;
  • Data analysis of metabolomics data;
  • Own research on metabolomics methods and interpretation of metabolomics data;
  • Supervision of PhD and MSc students;
  • Teaching in metabolomics and participating in education program of LACDR;
  • Grant writing and acquisition of projects.

Selection criteria

  • PhD in metabolomics, biochemistry, or comparable;
  • Experience in biochemistry and metabolism;
  • Experience in biostatistics, cheminformatics and/or modelling;
  • Experience with metabolomics;
  • Experience with LC-MS;
  • Experience in leading projects is a plus;
  • Team player.

Terms and conditions 
We offer a fulltime, one year term position, with the possibility of renewal for up to three more years. Salary range from €3.637 – € 5.656 gross per month (pay scale 11-12 in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities).
