is looking for a

postdoctoral researcher Information Theoretic Data Mining (1.0fte)

Because of our strong interest in the area of Information Theoretic Data Mining, we are opening a post-doctoral position for highly motivated and well-qualified young researchers to pursue their scientific career in this exciting discipline. The research is intended to focus on the development of novel theory and algorithms in the aforementioned research area, with applications in health care and engineering. The intended start date is September 2022 and funding is available for up to 3 years.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct original and novel research in the field of information theoretic data mining;
  • Publish scientific articles in international journals and conferences.

Selection Criteria

  • A PhD degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field;
  • Excellent knowledge of data mining, machine learning, and statistics;
  • Good knowledge of the minimum description length principle and its use for data mining;
  • Creative thinking and highly motivated to do foundational data mining research;
  • Good programming skills;
  • Excellent proficiency in English;
  • Positive recommendation letters.

Terms and conditions 

We offer a full-time 1-year position, which may be extended to 3 years. Salary ranges from € 2846.- to € 4490.- gross per month for a full-time position as postdoc (pay scale 10 in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities).
