The Faculty of Science / the Institute for Biology is looking for a :

Technician Mass Spectrometry
Vacancy number: 22-226

Key responsibilities
·    Sample preparation and (partial) purification of compounds.
·    Coordinate and perform LC-MS runs, using well-established methods.
·    Help develop new methods on the LC-MS systems for new applications or projects.
·    Responsibility for maintenance of the LC-MS systems.
·    Help and guide our scientists to prepare and analyze samples for LC-MS analysis as well as troubleshooting.
·    Assist in MS-related courses.

Selection Criteria 
·    You have a BSc or MSc in analytical chemistry or related fields.
·    Very good theoretical knowledge of chromatography and mass spectrometry.
·    Hands-on experience with HPLC/UPLC systems, particularly with RP and HILIC columns.
·    Hands-on experience with mass spectrometry instruments, especially ESI-TOF.
·    Team player and excited to collaborate with scientists within and outside the institute.
·    You are well organized and have a keen eye for details.
·    Good level of written and spoken English.

We offer 
You will be employed in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO Nederlandse Universiteiten), initially for a period of 12 months. After 12 months, if you prove to be suitable for the position, there is the option and intention to employ you for an indefinite period. The salary will be a minimum of € 2.376,- and a maximum of € 3.619,- , gross per month based on full-time employment (scale 7 or 8), depending on your level of education and work experience. The Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU) will apply to your contract.

The employment is consistent with the collective employment agreement of Dutch universities (CAO). Leiden University offers an attractive benefits package with additional holiday (8%) and end-of-year bonuses (8.3 %), training and career development.
