The Faculty of Science, Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Science is looking for a PhD student Quantum Machine Learning (1 FTE)
Because of our strong interest in the area of Quantum Machine Learning, we are opening a PhD position in this novel and exciting discipline. We are looking for a highly motivated researcher to join our team. The successful candidate will have a chance to contribute to the development of the very exciting field of quantum machine learning, and in particular, to devise new quantum algorithms with emphasis on machine learning and artificial intelligence applications. During their studies, they will acquire expertise in the cutting edge of machine learning, artificial intelligence, and quantum computing. These skills are in very high demand in academia and are becoming increasingly sought after by high-tech companies.
- Conducting novel and creative research in the field of quantum machine learning, and quantum computing in general.
- Suitable degree (MSc) in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, AI/Machine Learning or other related science;
- Creative and energetic thinking and a high degree of motivation;
- Team spirit/collaboration attitude preferred;
- Solid background in mathematics, theoretical computer science or quantum computing is advantageous.

Terms and conditions
Salary ranges from € 2,266.- gross per month in the first year to € 2,897- gross per month in the fourth year based on a full-time position (pay scale P in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities).
