Ymke de Bruijn is a postdoctoral researcher at the LUC-Societal Challenges Lab. Her research focuses on interethnic attitudes of children and parents, and diversity in children’s books. She obtained her PhD in 2022 at the research project ‘Kinderen in de Samenleving’ (KidS) [Children in Society]. In her dissertation ‘Child interethnic prejudice in the Netherlands: Social learning from parents and picture books’ she examined interethnic prejudice in young children in the Netherlands, and attitudes and ideologies they may be exposed to through two socialization agents: parents and children’s books.
