Teaching and Teacher Learning blog
In 2015 Tim started as a PhD candidate at ICLON. Earlier he obtained a Masters in Human Learning and Performance psychology (with honors) from the Erasmus University Rotterdam. During his education he worked as a research assistant on several studies on topics such as self-regulated learning, embodied cognition, and the expertise development of physicians.
As a PhD position he studies how teachers of open online education can give high quality instruction. He focusses mainly on improving study results; how do you facilitate students’ long-term learning? His position is funded by CEL (Centre of Education and Learning), a collaboration between the universities of Leiden, Delft and Rotterdam. As such he collaborates with researchers from several universities and different disciplines.
In addition to his primary topic Tim is also interested in the recent discussions on the scientific method, such as pre-registration of studies, open access to research data and the (mis)use of statistics.
