Roosmarie is currently in the final year of her PhD research in Nicaragua Research group. Her research focuses on the practices surrounding the construction and use of earthen and stone mounds in Nicaragua, with a special interest in understanding what role these structures played in the daily life of the inhabitants of the site of La Pachona. Related to this is the investigation of the mortuary practices involved in the occasional burials encountered in the mounds, as well as investigating the indigenous perceptions of everyday life practices versus ritual or special events.
