Pre-PhD candidate / guest
Roos Brekelmans is a dual PhD candidate at Leiden University Dual PhD Centre. Working title thesis: 'Female Intrasexual Competition in the Workplace and the Role of Gender Stereotypes'.
Roos started her academic path with a double Bachelor's degree in English and Dutch with a focus on literature at Utrecht University. After this she followed a Research Master program in Utrecht and Germany (Potsdam) in literature and media science (MPhil).
Subsequently, Roos started her professional career in Berlin at various digital start-ups. Roos currently works as a Digital Accelerator at Vattenfall in order to put and realize value enhancement through digitization more on the map.
In later years the academic need remained itchy and in 2013 she followed a part-time MBA in business administration (Erasmus University Rotterdam, MSc). Here Roos researched the experiences of female leaders from a phenomenological perspective and the interest in intrasexual competition between women arose. This theme is also central to her PhD research.
