Patsy Haccou obtained a PhD in mathematical biology in 1987 and is Assistant Professor of Mathematical Biology at LUC. She performed postdoctoral research at several internationally renowned universities in the UK, US, and Japan. Until 2009 she was leader of the section Theoretical Biology at the Institute of Biology Leiden. She then moved to the Institute of Environmental Sciences, where she studied ecological processes with dynamic probability models.

Biography
Patsy Haccou obtained a PhD in mathematical biology in 1987 and is Assistant Professor of Mathematical Biology at LUC. She performed postdoctoral research at several internationally renowned universities in the UK, US, and Japan. Until 2009 she was leader of the section Theoretical Biology at the Institute of Biology Leiden. She then moved to the Institute of Environmental Sciences, where she studied ecological processes with dynamic probability models. She joined LUC in 2010 to teach mathematics and mathematical modelling in the context of global challenges. In 2018 she published a textbook on applied mathematics specifically focussing on examining and solving realistic, complex issues - often linked to Global Challenges.
